I received my artistic training at the College of Charleston and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Following an early focus on abstract painting, in 2000 I began painting portraits, and narrative works shortly thereafter.

My father, also named Charles (known affectionately about town as "Cholly D"),

enjoyed a long, robust career as a painter

in Charleston. Having passed away in 2018,

his life and work are a great inspiration

for me.

Born in New Orleans, La., I  grew up in and around Charleston, SC. I find this beautiful city with its rich history, the surrounding towns

and lowcountry to be a wonderful place to live

and work.
